Confessions of a QVC Shopper

A couple weeks ago, some friends of ours were talking about how fun it would be to be a UPS driver. My friend Jenni joked about dropping packages at my house, saying "Here's another from Saks for Wendy...and from Nordstrom" and how she'd throw them at my front door in disgust.

I sat there, laughing on the outside and praying on the inside that my husband wouldn't spill my shopping secrets.

Yes, the UPS truck stops frequently at my house. Not dropping items from those lux stores but instead from QVC!

I don't know how I got hooked on shopping from TV. I've bought some crazy things in the past from informercials. Tae Bo videos. Skin care products from Victoria Principal and Cindy Crawford. A few hair products like Wen by Chaz Dean. Proactiv. And for many, many years I was obsessed with Suzanne Somers and her weight loss stuff she pitched on HSN.

About four years ago I caught programming for Smashbox Cosmetics on QVC. Then one for Bare Minerals. And Philosophy. These are products I'd normally buy for myself at a regular retail stores. So I watched. And I bought!

QVC offers crazy, CRAZY discounts. Not to mention, items not available in retail stores. I picked up a Smashbox Halo Hydrating Perfecting Powder and their O-Gloss Lip Gloss one whole year before it was at my local Sephora. They also offer rad kits with full size products at nearly half of what you'd pay retail for it.

Forget buying Bare Minerals anywhere besides QVC. I'm set up on automatic delivery and my little pots of foundation are on my doorstep every three months.

Philosophy sells super-sized versions of several of their products. My favs are the Purity cleanser and 3-in-1 Shampoo, Shower Gel, and Bubble Bath in Pure Grace. They come in 32 oz. sizes and last for MONTHS!

Now, I've never bought anything else from QVC. I'm not remotely interested in the jewelry, clothing, housewares, or whatever else they offer. Well, wait...this isn't totally true. I did buy a cheesecake from Junior's during the Christmas holiday. And it was fantastic. But that's it.

My QVC obsession has gotten me into a bit of trouble. Out of control shopping with the touch of a finger. Because...

there's an app for that! Yikes!
