What Kind of Mom Do You Aspire to Be?

Have you ever seen a mom who has it dialed in?

She's got the perfect outfit on, healthy snacks for her kids, tons of energy. She keeps perfect house, has hobbies, and several friends. She knows about pop culture and current world events, enjoys spending time with her family, and has a solid marriage. She finds time to exercise, pays the bills on time, and writes a post on her blog - everyday.

Does she exist?

I've met a lot of moms throughout my lifetime. Cool moms, mean moms, lazy moms, perfect moms, hippie moms, working, and stay-at-home moms. I've been one now for a little over two years and I'm still trying to figure out what kind of mom I want to be.

There are two moms I'd really love to be. Today, I really want to be Lorelai Gilmore.

Ok, I loved the show "Gilmore Girls." Loved it. An own the DVD's, still watch repeats, know which episodes are which, able to recite lines -- kinda love. And I think Lorelai Gilmore encompassed my idea of a rad mom. No doubt, she had faults. But she also had a very distinct, special relationship with her daughter -- one I hope to have with my own.

Yes, I know...she's a character, make-believe, brought to life by an actress. I got it. But I still think she was cool as hell!

Here's a clip from the show where Rory thanks her mom during her high school graduation speech. I swear, I lose it every time I see it and only hope my daughter some day feels the same way about me. [hang tight through the commercials and then you'll see the clip from the show]

Clip found here on Hulu.com.

I'm curious if any of you ever aspired to be like a make-believe character. Please comment!
By the way, the second mom I'd really love to be is a real person. Stay tuned.

It's For Me...Not You.

I read the best blogging advice a few days ago:

Writing a blog should be for yourself not for others.

You might have noticed, or maybe not, that I haven't written a post in several days, er...weeks. I love writing this blog because I love to write. But I got totally hung up on the idea that I need to provide information for my followers. Like I have some great wisdom that must be shared with the masses.

But I don't. I'm just me. A mom who is desperately trying to balance staying healthy, my marriage, and raising our child.

Is this a "mom blog?" Or a cancer blog? I don't know. Maybe a little of both. It's not exactly what I want it to be...yet. And that's because I'm not really sure what it's supposed to be.

So, for now, it's for me. It's my diary for all to read. Enjoy.
